Spring is here. Time to self-reflect.

Images of spring from Tolland, CT

I know that it's already May so you are probably thinking, "Silly girl, it's been spring since March!" However, those of us that hail from the snowy cold states (all puns intended), are finally expecting plowed mountainous piles of winter nonsense to melt away for good.

Thank goodness.

It's not just because it's nice to finally see the sun for longer than a few minutes per day (instead of the gray skies), but that it also means the end of another school year. The end of the year always has mixed reviews. I suppose it depends on how things are going for you.

But either way, NOW is the time to reflect. Think about the following questions:

1) Are you happy with where you are teaching?

2) Are you satisfied with the level of support from colleagues, administration, parents, the community?

3) Did you accomplish your professional and personal goals?

4) What and how much professional development did you receive?

5) What changes do you already know you want to make for the following year?

If you're happy and you know it, stay put! But if you think you might need a change, realize that you are not alone. So many educators fear change, but alas, it's all we want for our students: to be successful and happy! Why not us? Just think about that this spring...
